L-130V Digital Sustainability for Cultural Collections

This course is for anyone interested in learning how to sustain digital content for the long term.  Pre-requisites include a background in content curation, a basic understanding of digital archives, digital libraries, or digital cultural content. The course does not discuss making or transforming physical content into digital formats. Instead, the course covers sustainability of any type of content that is already digital.  Sign up and pay on the Rare Book School website.

You will learn the fundamentals of good practice, including core concepts and community standards. You'll learn about how the fields of digital preservation, digital archives, and cultural collections are distinct but work together for sustainability. You'll also develop knowledge and skills for digital content and collections roles.

Nance McGovern and Kari Smith are both professional archivists. They are the creators and instructors of this course. Nance is the Director of the Digital Preservation Management Workshops. Both have been working with digital records, digital archives, and digital sustainability for over 30 years.
